This past weekend, Terri and I were on the road from Alexandria to West Monroe, so we decided to stop at one of our favorite roadside spots, the Burger Barn in Olla, Louisiana.

Serving 80¢ World-Famous Chili Cheeseburgers at All Southern California & Nevada Locations on Friday, May 15th from 12 to 8 PM. For a truly authentic Los Angeles fast food experience, it's hard to beat Tommy's.  Written By Ken Hulsey Yesterday, I traveled back to the eastern Texas town of Marshall around dinner time. Whenever I visit Texas, I always try to enjoy some Mexican food because it's generally much better than what I get back home in Louisiana . Since I wasn't familiar with the area, I turned to Google to look for nearby restaurants and check their reviews. I found one that looked great and had excellent ratings, so I entered the coordinates and headed over.

When it comes to finding great eateries in California, there’s one golden rule: never judge a restaurant by its appearance! You’ll often discover that the hidden gems—those unassuming hole-in-the-wall spots—serve up the best food around. Just think about it: if a place has been thriving in the same location for decades, you can bet they’ve mastered their recipes. Take Taco Treat in Arcadia, California, for example. From the outside, it may not look like much, but trust me, it’s a food lover’s paradise. 

Nestled in an unassuming strip mall along Wyoming Boulevard, just north of Constitution Avenue, Eloy's Mexican Restaurant is one of those hidden treasures that every Albuquerque local cherishes. From the outside, it might not catch your eye, but once you step inside, you’re enveloped in a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like home. The delightful aromas wafting through the air—from rich, simmering chile to the tempting scent of perfectly grilled meats—immediately ignite fond memories of family gatherings and festive celebrations shared over delicious meals. 

If you're in central Louisiana and looking for great pizza and handcrafted beer, you have to stop by Flying Heart Brewing in Natchitoches. Honestly, I haven't had a great pizza since my family moved here from California almost six years ago. People in Alexandria rave about Wildwood Pizza, but when my partner and I tried to eat there, we were met with a terrible septic smell as soon as we walked in. We've never been back since. Eating at Philly's Pizza in Pineville has been a mixed experience, with decent pies sometimes overshadowed by greasy offerings. It’s disheartening when an Ultimate Supreme from Little Caesars becomes your go-to pizza due to a lack of better options.

What could be a cooler place for lunch than a restaurant located in a vintage Conoco gas station?  The Spoonbill Watering Hole & Restaurant, situated in the downtown district of Lafayette, Louisiana, immediately catches the eye of passersby. The building was once a gas station, and the owners made a smart decision to maintain as much of the vintage aesthetic as possible. Although the gas pumps are gone—replaced by outdoor dining—it’s easy to imagine a classic Thunderbird pulling up for a tank of gas. My wife and I knew nothing about Spoonbill, but it looked so cool that we had to eat there.
