I hail from California, with short stints in Texas and New Mexico, but I lived most of my life there. Terri is from Texas, but being part of a military family, she lived all over the place, ranging from Germany to New Jersey. She actually spent most of her life in North Carolina. The fact that we both have lived in vastly different parts of our great country, each with different kinds of people, all with different foibles and different ways of doing this thing called life. Despite all of these different experiences under our belts, none of it prepared us for life in the South. 

Written By Ken Hulsey In this hilarious Mel Brooks spoof of Westerns, crafty railroad worker Bart (Cleavon Little) becomes the first black sheriff of the frontier town of Rock Ridge, which is about to be destroyed to make way for a new railroad. Initially, the townspeople harbor racial biases against their unconventional new leader. However, they warm to Bart and his perpetually drunk gunfighter friend (Gene Wilder) after realizing they are the only defense against a wave of thugs sent to rid the town of its population. This ribald and irreverent classic pokes fun at the Western genre and its tropes, sparing no one and nothing.

 Written by Ken Hulsey Over the past several months, I've begun to realize that our local Walmart has become a true second home to my wife and me. Hardly a day goes by when I don't find myself popping in to pick up something. In fact, I often find myself popping into Walmart for reasons other than shopping. With the heat and humidity so extreme here in the South, I have actually gone to Walmart to take a walk for some exercise. There I am walking around the store in a pattern, passing the pharmacy, then the hardware department, then electronics. You get the idea. Anyone who may have observed my actions might have thought I was out of my mind, but as anyone who has ever set foot in a Walmart knows, my behavior was not the craziest thing going on in that store at the time. 

 Written by Ken Hulsey A couple of weeks back, I decided to start posting the trailers from some of my favorite movies. Being a child of the 70s, I naturally opted to start my new series in that decade. The first film that I went with was the 1976 action/comedy Silver Streak. Today I decided to feature The Apple Dumpling Gang from 1975, which holds the distinction of being the first film that I ever saw in a movie theater. 

Back in the 1970s, the movies had it all: planes were crashing down from the heavens, towering infernos, tales of world destruction, bad-ass cops, a cowboy in a Trans Am running beer across the south, King Kong, Godzilla, intergalactic wars, car chases, car crashes, and, in the case of todays featured trailer a passenger train crashing trough the Chicago rail terminal.

"Woman... woe-man... whoooa-man. She was a thief, you gotta believe, she stole my heart and my cat. Betty, Judy, Josie and those hot Pussycats... they make me horny, Saturday morny... girls of cartoo-ins will leave me in ruins... I want to be Betty's Barney. Hey Jane... get me off this crazy thing... called love.

 Written by Ken Hulsey After taking a month off, I decided that it was time to resurrect one of my most popular features, entitled Retro Cartoon Rewind. As you can probably guess, this series features many of the classic cartoons that were once shown almost exclusively on network television between 6 and 12 in the morning on Saturdays. Most of us from that generation woke up with eager anticipation, knowing that we were about to enjoy several hours of programming aimed solely for kids. For many, these are some of our most treasured memories.

One such film that I have regrettably passed over, for far too long, is the 1986 action/comedy "Big Trouble in Little China". The Timeless Humor of Monty Python's "Dead Parrot" Sketch When it comes to British humor, few can match the wit and absurdity found in Monty Python's sketches, particularly the infamous " Dead Parrot " routine. This iconic piece showcases quintessential British parody, marked by its clever dialogue, memorable performances, and an unrelenting absurdity that has cemented its place in comedic history.

 For this installment of Retro Cartoon Rewind, I decided to feature a selection of my favorite cartoon shorts featuring Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. If you’re like me, you probably grew up watching these cartoons, and they undoubtedly influenced your childhood. I consider myself to be an equal blend of the Wascally Wabbit and the Screwball Duck, both mentally and emotionally, which probably explains a lot of things—just ask my friends and relatives! Aside from the psychiatrist bills, these wonderful cartoons still make me laugh out loud and bring back so many fond memories.
