Where else can you get a Chili Cheeseburger for only 80¢, much less a World-Famous one? On Friday, May 15th, from Noon to 8 PM, all Original Tommy's locations will be offering customers 80¢ Word-famous Chili Cheeseburgers (limit three per customer).

Original Tommy's will be celebrating at the original "Shack" at the corner of Beverly and Rampart Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles with live entertainment and giveaways on Friday, May 15th. The Belmont High School Marching Band will kick off the event at 11 AM. The Koulax Family is proud to be receiving a Resolution honoring 80 years of business in California by Assemblymember Mark Gonzalez. Checks will be presented to The Belmont High School Marching Band and InsideOUT Writers, and Cynthia Koulax, daughter of founder Tommy Koulax, will be greeting the community.

This past week, I was traveling down Highway 1 from Shreveport towards Natchitoches when I spied a structure off to my right that my keen eye immediately recognized as a railroad depot. My suspicion was soon confirmed as I pulled up in front of the old Texas & Pacific Railroad depot that once served the nearby town of Powhatan. The location also included an old railroad crossing signal, a replica railroad water tower, and an old gas station.

First, being old enough to have experienced our great nation's 200th birthday celebration back in 1976, I am somewhat surprised at small number of celebrations across the country.
