God Still Moves | Just a Though | Pastor Steve Smothermon

Sometimes God's answers don't arrive the way we imagine they should. We expect the obvious solution, the dramatic moment, or the strong and visible leader. But throughout Scripture, God often works through the unlikely and the overlooked so that His power is unmistakable. When the answer comes from a place no one expected, it reminds us that the victory didn't come from human strength but from God's hand.

Many times, the very thing we think is a disadvantage becomes the instrument God uses. What we see as weakness, limitation, or an ordinary circumstance may actually be the place where God chooses to work. The Bible is full of examples of God using people and moments others would dismiss. God has never needed perfect people or perfect situations. He simply needs willing hearts.

So, if you find yourself waiting for God to move, don't assume He has forgotten you. The answer may not look the way you pictured it, but that does not mean it isn't on the way. God still hears when His people cry out, and He still brings deliverance in ways that remind us He alone is the Deliverer.

Just a thought,

Steve Smothermon

Feeling Overlooked? God Might Be Setting You Up For Something BIG!

Maybe you've felt overlooked, as if you weren't enough, qualified, or the obvious choice. But that's not a disqualification; it's God's setup. God is not looking for the most impressive person. Instead, He seeks someone He can work through so that the glory belongs to Him.

When Israel needed a deliverer, God didn't choose the strongest warrior or the most obvious hero. He chose Ehud, a left-handed man with a limitation in his right hand. In that culture, he would have been seen as weak, unusual, and overlooked. Nobody would have picked him; that's exactly why God did.

This pattern is seen throughout Scripture. God chose David, a ruddy teenager tending sheep, to be king. He chose Gideon, the weakest in his family, to lead an army. Jesus selected fishermen and tax collectors as His disciples—men that no rabbi would usually choose; men the world passed over.

God doesn’t see what people see. People judge based on outward appearances, but God looks at the heart. He is not searching for talent, titles, or credentials; He is looking for someone who won’t quit, someone willing to be used, and someone who will give Him the credit when victory comes!

God is still using unexpected people to accomplish remarkable things, and He is not done with you! Weakness removes the possibility of people taking credit. God doesn’t look for the obvious; He seeks those who are strong on the inside. The oppressed always vote for their oppressors, and while an instrument may be used, the victory belongs to God! He desires to reach everyone.

Blessings

Blessings: We often forget that everything in life, including life itself, is a blessing from God. As a man of faith I thank God during my daily prayer for all those blessings He has bestowed upon myself and my family. If you ever want to know just how blessed you really are? Just take a few moments to look around you. There are many people who are having a much harder time getting through their daily life than you are. Take time to pray for those people. Even though it may not seem like it to the casual observer, The Lord is taking care of them as well. We live in a world full of distractions. From cell phones to television our daily lives are filled with things that take our minds off our problems as well as God. I urge you to take the time to look around you. There is a beautiful world out there. Instead of watching another cute cat video, watch some children playing, look at a sunset or if you have the means take a walk in the woods. The miracle of God's creation is all around you and is a much more wonderful show than anything on the television or internet. Take every opportunity to disconnect from technology and grow closer to God through enjoyment of his wonders.
