Finding Zen in Chaos: A Whimsical Guide to Navigating Adulting One Ceiling Tile at a Time! | Random Ramblings

Time Out: A New Take on Adulting and Self-Care

I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling the weight of the world today. It’s one of those mornings where my brain feels like it’s stuck in a time warp, and I find myself doing an existential dance between logic and sheer chaos. To combat this delightful mess, I’ve decided it’s time for some “Time Out” therapy!

Picture this: I’m sitting here, Criss-Cross-Applesauce, trying to find my inner zen while counting ceiling tiles—hey, don’t knock it ‘til you try it! There’s something oddly calming about staring at what is essentially just a large expanse of white, right? If it were a Netflix show, I’d call it “The Great Tile Experience.” Episode One: The Endless Count. Spoiler alert: It’s not as thrilling as it sounds.

Is it nap time yet? Honestly, if someone could invent a napping app, I’d be first in line, ready to slap my face on a pillow like it’s a piece of art. The world of adulting is wild, my friends, and it often feels like a rollercoaster without brakes. So, let’s try not to be too serious—your face could get stuck in a frown, and trust me, nobody wants that.

The fact that I stepped out into the wild today and didn’t bite anyone is a victory in itself! Seriously, do you know how hard it is to stay civil when the coffee hasn’t kicked in yet? I may have growled a little (or a lot), but nobody was harmed during my morning jaunt—just a few startled squirrels who will be telling tales for weeks!

Let’s take a deep breath and appreciate this moment. Today might not be my best day, but hey, at least it wasn’t my worst! If your day feels like it’s kicking you square in the tail, take a moment to turn around and kick back! Literally, I mean—sometimes a good kick helps change your mood (or at least gives you a more interesting story to tell). Remember, the boundaries you set are yours to follow, so make them count!

Setting goals, priorities, and boundaries in this mad race called adulthood is essential. You’ve got to run it like the BOSS you are! If you want to treat your day like a game of dodgeball, grab the metaphorical ball, throw it back at life, and let it know you mean business!

Think of it this way: life is a series of hurdles. You can either jump over them or take a detour through the bushes (which I have done many times). But there’s wisdom in understanding when to stand strong and when to bend a little. Sometimes, bending just means admitting, “Another cookie won’t hurt,” and honestly, can anyone really argue with that logic?

So, here’s to all the moments spent in “Time Out,” to the cloud-watchers, the ceiling-tile-counters, and the grown-ups desperately trying to adult. Scratch your watch, wind your head, and remember—you’re doing just fine. Tomorrow is a new day, and when in doubt, put on your favorite boots and giddy-up into the wild again! After all, life is too short to be taken seriously. #PullUpYourBoots and let’s tackle whatever comes next with a grin and maybe a snack in hand!

Act Like A Woman - Paperback – by James W. Greer (Author)

A 30-Day Women’s Devotional on Faith, Courage, and Godly Influence

What does it really mean to be a woman of faith?

In today’s culture, women are often told their value comes from appearance, success, or approval from others. But the Bible tells a different story. Scripture shows that a woman’s greatest strength comes from her relationship with God, her character, and her willingness to trust Him with her life.

Act Like a Woman is a powerful 30-day Christian devotional for women designed to help you grow spiritually, strengthen your faith, and discover the influence God has given you.

Through daily readings, Scripture, and reflection, this devotional explores the lives of women in the Bible whose faith shaped history—women like Ruth, Deborah, Mary, Hannah, and Mary Magdalene. Their stories reveal how God works through ordinary women who are willing to trust Him with their lives.

Whether you are a mother, wife, leader, mentor, or simply a woman seeking to grow closer to God, this devotional will encourage you to walk boldly in the life He has designed for you.

From Godzilla to Star Wars: A Comic Book Journey Through the Pages of My Childhood

Written By Ken Hulsey As most of you know, I am a certified comic book enthusiast. I have been collecting comic books as a hobby since the late 1970s and have been reading them since I was a child. Like many kids of my generation, I was drawn to titles featuring my favorite cartoon characters such as The Flintstones , Bugs Bunny , and Yogi Bear . My mother would buy them for me in packs at the Pick N Save, which helped me build quite a collection. While I often got some Richie Rich and Little Lulu comics that I didn't particularly care for, back then, you learned to take the good with the bad.

Unraveling the Mystery: The Glowing Green Fireballs that Haunted New Mexico—Are They Alien Probes or a Government Secret?

Story By Ken Hulsey As a rational person, I can explain away most of the strange occurrences I experienced during my teenage years in Albuquerque. However, one incident still puzzles me to this day. In August 1980, my best friend, my family, and I witnessed a large, glowing green orb hovering motionless in the night sky directly over the city for over an hour before it disappeared.

Overcoming Fear: How Tithing Transformed My Finances and Strengthened My Relationship with God

The Journey of Faith: Embracing Challenges and Growing in Spiritual Maturity Taking that first step into an act of faith can often feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to something like tithing. For many, the idea of giving away 10% of their income can stir up feelings of reluctance and fear. I was one of those individuals, apprehensive and uncertain about the process. Yet, it was precisely this struggle that led me to a deeper understanding of faith and dependence on God.

In this message, we explore the powerful story of Paul’s shipwreck in Acts 26–28 and his unexpected experience on the island of Malta, where survival turned into attack and pain transformed into purpose. But what if your current struggle isn’t a setback but rather a divine assignment?

Louisiana Through My Lens | Getting Close To God and Nature | Fort Buhlow Recreation Area in Pineville

Photos and Story By Ken Hulsey Last week, I spent a couple of days exploring the Fort Buhlow Recreation Area in Pineville, Louisiana. This park is truly a hidden gem in the central part of the state. It covers 100 acres, nestled between Lake Buhlow and the Red River. The park features a championship-caliber disc golf course, 2- and 3-mile hiking trails, two playgrounds, numerous picnic areas, and a boat launch on the river. It is the perfect place to spend an afternoon with family.

Just A Thought From Pastor Steve Smothermon: With All Your Heart

The Bible teaches us to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts, and lean not on our own understanding. Highest relationship: So, what does it mean to trust God, to trust someone else? Trust is the highest relationship with others. It means to have confidence in, to be secure, to feel safe. It means you believe what they tell you. Worldly trust: In our society, it is hard to fully trust anyone or anything. Marketers are trying to get us to trust in their products. Politicians are trying to get us to trust them enough to vote for them. Spouses want to be trusted. Biblical trust: The Bible teaches us not to trust in man. Why? People will disappoint you; they will let you down. But God will never disappoint or let you down. Jeremiah 17:5 — This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.” So, we are not to put our trust in people, but in God. Now we do trust people. We have to at ti...

Learning to Wait God's Way

David was the anointed king of Israel, but before he could enjoy the realization of God's promises, he had to go through a season of testing and waiting. During this time, he was forced to hide out in caves and literally run for his life. King Saul, who was bent on David's destruction, continually hunted for him. Perhaps the Lord has given you a promise through His Word. You are ready to see it unfold, but it hasn't happened yet. Though you have waited, it seems that there is no hope on the horizon. Remember, God's timing is perfect. He knows what you need, when you need it. He knows that if we are going to learn how to walk with Him in the daylight or the good times, we must learn first to trust Him in times of darkness. At some point, each of us has waited for God's promises to come. David may have wondered when the Lord would open the door to blessing. However, he never allowed his thoughts to turn to doubts. In fact, in Psalm 18:17, 19, he praises God for...
