Prayer Is a Conversation



And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. —Matthew 21:22 

 Prayer is a two-way conversation; it is our talking to God, and His talking to us. As a Christian, you have a heavenly Father who hears and answers prayer. Jesus said, “All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Every man or woman whose life has counted for the church and the Kingdom of God has been a person of prayer. You cannot afford to be too busy to pray. A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian. Jesus Christ spent many hours in prayer. Sometimes He spent the night on a mountaintop in solitary communion with God the Father. If He felt that He had to pray, how much more do we need to pray! - Billy Graham

Rediscovering Lecompte: Vintage Photos and Memories from Central Louisiana’s Past!

 Back in February of 2023, I received a USB drive from my compadre Everett Lueck of the Southern Forest Heritage Museum that contains an enormous amount of information about life in Central Louisiana in the early to mid 20th century. The files that he sent me include documents, newspaper articles, letters, a couple of videos and huge amount of vintage photographs. The bulk of the material focuses on the lumber industry and the railroads that operated in this part of the state.

If you grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico , during the 60s, 70s, or 80s, you likely have fond memories of Toys By Roy. The store was easily recognizable thanks to the large rocking horse logo on its front. In 1961, Roy Ater opened his first Toys By Roy in the brand-new Winrock Center Mall, which was marketed as ‘the largest in the Southwest.’ Ater’s toy store quickly became one of the mall's first and most successful retailers. Over the following years, Toys By Roy expanded into a successful franchise with 34 locations across 9 states.
