Get ready to mark an extraordinary milestone in American history! Victorville, California, is preparing to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary with an unforgettable event on July 4, 2026, at Silverado High School’s Hawk Stadium. 

The celebration promises an evening filled with lively entertainment, delicious food, and spectacular fireworks, creating a festive atmosphere for the entire family. The festivities will kick off at 6:00 PM, with ticket sales starting on June 15. For just $2.00 per person, attendees can enjoy a night packed with fun and excitement. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to partake in a historic celebration as we honor 250 years of independence and the spirit of America. One of the highlights of the evening will be a live concert featuring the Fast Times Band, known for their electrifying performances of iconic '80s hits. Their energetic music is sure to get everyone on their feet and create an immersive party experience that will leave you feeling nostalgic and uplifted. Don't forget to bring your dancing shoes and get ready to groove along with the band!

In addition to the concert, food vendors will be on-site, offering a variety of culinary delights to satisfy every palate. The Silverado High School Cheer Team will also perform, showcasing local talent and adding an element of school spirit to this vibrant community gathering.

Safety and security are top priorities for this community event. Guests are encouraged to bring clear bags for easier inspection, as all bags will be subject to inspection upon entry. To maintain a family-friendly atmosphere, alcohol consumption is prohibited at the event. Parking will open at 5:30 PM, so guests are encouraged to arrive early to secure a good spot and enjoy all the pre-show activities before the stadium opens at 6:00 PM.

First, being old enough to have experienced our great nation's 200th birthday celebration back in 1976, I am somewhat surprised at small number of celebrations across the country. Back in 76, there was a certain sense of excitement about our nations bicentenial. Patriotic themed events and imagery were everywhere. There was a train containing our national treasures, like the Declaration of Independence and the Liberty Bell, touring the country so that every American would have a chance to see them. There was a fleet of tall (sailed) ships touring port cities. Overall, there was a sense of national pride that permeated everything. It was a truly magical time for our country.

This past week, I was traveling down Highway 1 from Shreveport towards Natchitoches when I spied a structure off to my right that my keen eye immediately recognized as a railroad depot.
