Impacting the World for God


"In business, companies talk frequently about market share. They all want a 100 percent share of the market. But how do they accomplish this? Competition is a major hurdle.

God has the same issue. A multitude of idols are competing with Him for a share of the market, and God wants a monopoly ... a 100 percent market share. He says, "Let all the people praise Me."

If everybody is praising the one true God, nobody else has any share of the market. That's what God is after for Himself, and that is why we are here. We are here to help God persuade the folks who are purchasing at the wrong market to go to the right market. We are here to help God meet His 100 percent." - Tony Evans



Isaiah 49:5-6

5 And now the LORD says— he who formed me in the womb to be his servant to bring Jacob back to him and gather Israel to himself, for I am honored in the eyes of the LORD and my God has been my strength— 6 he says: “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”

Missionary gifts, church offerings, and charitable contributions all speak eloquently of your unselfishness and Christian generosity.

When my family moved in during the late 1970s, this area was brand new. In fact, these were the only homes located on the furthest north side of the city. Rediscovering Smith's Landing: The Story of Louisiana's First Train Station and Its Legacy

Today, I want to share the story of the first railroad built in central Louisiana. Known as the Red River Railroad , or sometimes the Ralph Smith Smith Railroad , this was the very first railroad constructed west of the Mississippi River. It was a simple and roughly built line that transported cotton and other goods that were brought in by barges on Bayou Boeuf .   The place where this railroad began is called Smith’s Landing , and the remaining building in the town of Lecompte is recognized as the first train station built west of the Mississippi. The tracks ran from Lecompte to the banks of the Red River in Alexandria , but much of this route has been lost to time. During the Civil War , Union soldiers tore up the tracks to create a levee, and because of that, we don’t know exactly where the railroad used to go. Though the temperatures are just starting to cool down and the leaves are still mostly green, this fruit and vegetable stand (that's what we used to call a place like this in the good old days) is full of Fall colors.
